Joey Genres was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in the Baltimore house scene listening to Baltimore artists such as DJ Spen, Basement Boys, Teddy Douglas and many others. Joey (formerly known as DJ Dazzle) started deejaying in high school with vinyl after saving all of his money from part time jobs to purchase a pair of Technic 1200s. He continued his love for deejaying while deejaying at clubs, parties, weddings, talent shows and any other event he could all the way through grad school. At the same time, Joey started learning how to produce his own music.

Joey subsequently moved to Dallas, Texas for his non-music career and decided to retire DJ Dazzle as his production and deejay name to focus on house music full-time. Thus, Joey Genres was “born” in 2025. Although Joey is a “new artist”, Joey/DJ Dazzle has been deejaying (and producing) for over 20 years.

In February 2025, Joey focused on becoming a published recording artist. He self-released Bops Past Midnight (his first single under his new moniker) on Spotify and all the major streaming platforms. Following the success of Bops, Joey caught the attention of several independent record labels and signed multiple record deals for the distribution and release of his house records, such as My Place on April 25, 2025 (Groove Cycle Records), Stomp Again and The Challenge on April 26, 2025 (Big Tunes/Overbeat Records), Promises on May 9, 2025 (Mustache Crew Records), Over and Over on May 23, 2025 (Big Tunes/Overbeat Records), and Drinks in Caicos on July 15, 2025 (AK Cartel Records).

Joey’s latest release “Feel Me, Feel This” (a soulful, deep house banger) was released on Sunkissed Records on July 30, 2025 and was recently named a top 25 U.S. Dance/Electronic track according to Groover charts.

Joey’s 2025 house DJ mixes can be heard on his Mixcloud (including his guest mixes on internet radio stations on July 12, 2025 and August 9, 2025 (which is ranked globally on Mixcloud)).

Quote from Joey: “I am excited for the opportunity to join Balearic FM as a resident DJ and share my love of house music and my soulful and deep house mixes (with a sprinkling of funky/jackin’, tribal, and gospel house). Of course, listeners can expect to hear new releases and exclusives from me in my mixes from time to time. So I hope they are ready to dance….
