Half-Fat-Tony started out on the soul scene working with other DJs like Martin Collins, Louie Martin and Pete Tong (before Tong's career was as successful as it is now). As time went on he started DJ'ing full time in Cornwall clubs for a few years before moving on to a residency in Newcastle Upon Tyne playing Acid, Italian House and Hip House at Julie's on the Quayside in the late 80's until 1991.

After moving back to Northamptonshire the area where he was born, he switched to DJ'ing part time until 2004, and ran own soul night "Back Together Again" before disaster struck: when his pioneer equipment was stolen, he had to pack away his DJ activities for a time.

After a ten year break, though, the urge to start mixing came back - even if just for his own entertainment. After a few years of this, he asked us here at Balearic FM if he could play a one off guest mix. After one show, we offered him a regular spot!

From Tony:

The first time I went to Ibiza was 1989 - the second summer of love. My biggest surprise since then was hearing a recording of one of my mixes being played in a club in San Antonio that opens as a cafe bar in the daytime. I like to use the occasional track in my mixes that doesn't belong or is unexpected - just as would happen in an Iberian venue. This I believe is truly the Balearic spirit. Stay tuned, enjoy and thanks for your support.
